Our Story

I, Karen, have always loved Indian wear — not the heavily embellished “wear-once-for-a-function” kind, but the kind that feels effortless.

The kind you can wear to work, meetings, dinners, travel, or even just a coffee run — and still feel comfortable and confident.

The kind that wins you compliments like: “You look so effortlessly put together.”

Not: “Wow, kya function hai?”

But over time, I realized how difficult that had become.

Most options felt like extremes — either fast fashion that quickly lost its charm, or traditional wear that felt too festive and impractical for everyday life.

As working professionals, my husband (Rohit) and I wanted clothing that felt refined yet easy — rooted in Indian craftsmanship, but designed for modern wardrobes.

Pieces we would genuinely keep reaching for.

And the more we searched, the more we realized something:
beautiful Indian crafts, hand embroidery, and regional weaves had slowly become “occasion wear” instead of everyday wear.

That thought stayed with us.

Somewhere between me obsessing over fabrics and silhouettes… and Rohit patiently listening to my “this white kurta is completely different from the other” explanations… Native Threads was born.

What started as my idea slowly became our shared dream.

We began traveling, meeting artisans, understanding fabrics, and learning the stories behind India’s crafts.

Our first journey took us to Lucknow for chikankari.

What moved us wasn’t just its beauty —
it was the skill, patience, and quiet elegance behind every piece.

That became the heart of Native Threads.

Today, we’re building Native Threads as a journey through India’s crafts — creating thoughtfully made clothing that feels timeless, wearable, and relevant to modern life.

Pieces that feel premium without being loud.
Traditional without feeling dated.
Comfortable without compromising on style.

And behind every piece is something even more important: the hands and heritage that made it possible.

Native Threads is our way of bringing Indian craftsmanship back into everyday wardrobes.
